Long after Jamie Oliver has moved onto other projects, Routes to Work South (RTWS) and Motherwell College have joined forces to create a Jamie’s Kitchen type project in Cambuslang. The partnership has created an exciting programme which trains local unemployed people for jobs in the Hospitality and Catering industry. Using ‘The Works Café’ within Cambuslang Training & Enterprise Centre as a cookery classroom, the partnership offers unemployed people hands on training and formal qualifications to help them find work in the growing catering sector.
The facility is managed by RTWS. Commenting on the success of the partnership, Jacqui Taylor, RTWS Support Services Manager said, “This is a partnership designed to give local unemployed the skills to find employment in catering. Motherwell College offer trainees first class training in a working kitchen, while Routes to Work South’s excellent employability services help ensure the trainees find jobs on completion of their training. For local unemployed people interested in working in catering it’s an excellent opportunity to undertake training which help them find employment.”
